s i n d a r i n p h r a s e sWelcome to LotE's elvish phrases section! Here you can learn all sorts of useful elvish phrases such as "Go kiss an orc!". All phrases are in the Elvish language Sindarin and are by the brilliant Dreamingfifi of Merin Essi ar Quenteli, who has very kindly allowed me to use them on LotE.

Notes on Pronunciation:The capslocked syllables are where the stress falls in each word. "ER" is pronounced like "air" or "heir". When I wrote two Rs, that's to illustrate the rolled Rs. When I wrote more than one vowel sound, that's to show how long the vowel sound is held. The underlined TH and K mean that they are the hard versions of both sounds. (The hard TH is like the TH in "then" versus the soft TH in "nothing". The hard K versus the soft K is like the CH in the name "Bach" versus the C in "cat".) I used the pronunciation symbols from my Webster Collegiate Dictionary for a more accuracy. If you have difficultly figuring out what the other symbols mean, consult your dictionary.
