r e v i e w sBy TinaWarning: There are certain spoilers in my text, so if you have not seen the movie yet, I advise you not to read this. Instead of writing a real review the way Duiel did (which was a very good review indeed!) I would just like to write down some thoughts and my opinion on the movie. Different stages in the movie that touched me or made me react. I had been very nervous about the movie for a very long time. I didn't want it to be over and kept telling myself "Well, it isn't over yet. The premiere isn't for another month". Then that month became three weeks, two weeks and then one week. Finally it became one day and I was surprised at how fast time had gone. I didn't know how to act, sad, happy, frustrated? I didn't know what I would get to see in the movie, since I had not read the books. All I knew was that I didn't want it to be over. I had painted a horrible picture in my mind of how everything was going to end. I was so scared, because the ending I had painted in my mind was so horrible I didn't think I would be able to bear to watch such a scene. Even though these thoughts only were things I had made up they felt so real that I in the end started believing what I thought. As we walked in to the cinema I felt very nervous. We were there early since it was an exclusive screening and the seats weren't numbered, so we had to get our places fast. We waited for over an hour before the movie finally started. This felt like a very long time to me, which is strange since I really didn't want the time to come at all.
The beginning when you finally get to see Andy Serkis as Smegol. After all the hard work he has done for the movie, jumping in to freezing cold water, over and over again. Doing double shots of all the scenes, I can imagine it was a very hard thing to do. Keep in mind that he had to wear a heavy and warm costume while doing all this. All the things he did for the movie and his real face wouldn’t even be shown in the movie. I think it's great that he finally got a scene in the beginning, an opening scene which showed his face, the real Andy Serkis. This scene gave him some credit, the credit he deserves. Most people have no clue who Andy Serkis is, and if you say "He's the guy that plays Gollum" they go: "What? Isn't Gollum computer animated?” That makes me sad. He is such a good actor and deserves so much more credit for what he has done, and hopefully he will get that now. I really liked the movie all in all. I just thought it was so beautiful and good. It was a lot of war, but it was so exciting. And it is a very gripping movie. It really gets the audience in the action. I was sitting and shaking throughout the movie because I felt so scared at points. It was so real. I thought all the actors and actresses did an amazing job. I really liked the part where Eowyn killed the Nazgûl. It was nice because I'm a women and it showed power to the women sort of. It's usually the men that go out in war and do all the killing and saving the world. It was nice to see that a woman got to do something big too. And I just loved the comment lines they had in that scene: "Haha, no man can kill me" - "I am no man!” That was awesome. It is an amazing movie and all the movies will always have a special place in my heart. They have touched me, in a way I can not explain. They are wonderful in a special and unusual way. It touches you in a way you can not explain. It makes you want to cry, and you do cry. But you also smile. It's a new feeling, a new feeling between love, happiness and sadness.
